THE INFLUENCE OF BUDGET FORECASTING ON BUSINESS PLANNING
This study aims to: (1) analyze the impact of budget forecasting on business planning, (2) identify the key benefits of accurate budget forecasting, and (3) evaluate the challenges associated with budget forecasting. A survey design was employed to gather data from financial planners and business strategists. Using Taro Yamane's formula, a sample size of 380 participants from retail firms in Enugu was determined, ensuring comprehensive insights. The retail sector was chosen for its dynamic business environment and need for accurate forecasting. The reliability coefficient score of the survey was 0.87. Findings reveal that accurate budget forecasting significantly enhances business planning by providing reliable financial projections, aiding in strategic decision-making and resource allocation. Recommendations include investing in advanced forecasting tools, providing training on accurate forecasting techniques, and continuously reviewing and adjusting forecasts to align with business plans.
